The family moved about 13 miles south to 244 East 65th Street in South Los Angeles, by 1942, where Floyd manufactured wood products 2 miles east at 1645 East Slauson Avenue. Son Jack worked as a clerk and Floyd Jr. worked as a photographer.[City 1942]

Peter Carl JOHNSONΔ (1904-1993)

Peter C. JOHNSON 1K2. Peter "Pete" Carl JohnsonΔ was born on April 29, 1904, in California, likely in Mariposa County. He first married Lillian Esther Brown, reportedly in October 1922, and Alameda County California; but the marriage dissolved by 1926. Pete later married Opal Mae McKinley, a native of Missouri, on July 2, 1928, and they had two daughters before they divorced in 1948:

Pete and Lillian married on either October 20 or 30, 1922, in Alameda County California. They were both 18 years old. Their marriage dissolved by around 1926. Lillian remarried by 1935 and had one daughter. She married twice more before her death in Sacramento on October 6, 1979, at the age of 75.

Pete and Opal married on July 2, 1928. He was 24 years old and she was 18. The Johnsons started their family in Salinas, Monterey County, California, where daughter Dorothy was born. They later moved north to the East Bay at Alameda, Alameda County.

In 1940, Pete worked as a road construction foreman in San Francisco and at the time lived at a lodging house at 830 Victoria Street.[Cen 1940A] Meanwhile, Opal and their two daughters lived with Opal's widowed father Claude C. McKinley at 217 Park Street back in Salinas.[Cen 1940B]

Peter and Opal divorced in 1948, a few months after their 20th anniversary.

After their divorce, Opal and their two daughters lived at 1322 Juanita, in the Alisal neighborhood of Salinas, Monterey County, California. 1322 Juanita is no longer named as such, but their house was enumerated between 54 Midway Avenue and 1408 1st Avenue. Opal worked in Salinas as a lettuce trimmer and daughter Dorothy, age 20, worked in the auto finance department of a bank.[Cen 1950]

Opal Mae (McKinley) Johnson died on November 28, 1986, in Salinas. She was 77 years old. Her ashes were flown in an airplane and spread over the Pacific Ocean.

Peter later lived in Turlock, Stanislaus County, California.

Daisy and brother Peter, Modesto

Peter Carl Johnson died on January 11, 1993, in Tuolumne County, California, and is believed to be buried at Modesto Citizens Cemetery in Modesto, Stanislaus County, along with his sister and parents; however, the absence of a death year on his headstone introduces doubt as to whether or not he is actually buried there. Peter was 88 years old.
