Abigail (MOSHER) CORNELL (1769->1794)

1DBD.Abigail Mosher was born on November 10, 1769, presumbly in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.[Birth 1769] She married Elihu Coleman Cornell, a native of Westport, Bristol County, on or about December 25, 1784.[Mar 1784] They had at least two sons:

1DBD1. Jedadiah Cornell (9) Apr 1785 13 May 1865 (80)
1DBD2. Elihu Cornell (Jr.) 5 Apr 1794 15 Jun 1866 (72)

Abigail and Elihu filed their intentions of marriage on December 25, 1784, with the town clerk of Dartmouth.[Mar 1784]

Son Jedadiah was reportedly born in Rhode Island, and from there the family moved to Cayuga County, New York, where son Elihu was born.

December 2022It is not yet known when and where Abigail (Mosher) Cornell died.

Elihu Cornell reportedly died on October 22, 1804, and was buried at the Cornell family cemetery in White Creek, Washington County, New York. He was only 38 years old.[Grave] However, I have not found any connections between Elihu and the Daniel Cornell (1723-1799) family that is buried at the family cemetery.

First daughter Tamer was reportedly born in Ontario, Wayne County, New York, but afterward moved about 45 miles southwest and settled in Livonia by 1810. Livonia was then in Ontario County and in 1821 it became part of the new formed Livingston County. During the 1810 census, the family comprised Robert (by name) and Elizabeth, between the ages of 26 and 45; one son over the age of 16 (Daniel); three sons between the ages of 10 and 16 (presumably Robert Jr., Mosher, and Roswell); one daughter between the ages of 16 and 26 (Amy); one daughter between the ages of 10 and 16 (Betsy or Marlem); and three daughters under the age of 10 (perhaps Marlem, Marian, and Emeline).[Cen 1810]

Robert Barkley Ames (Sr.) died in January 1813, reportedly in Livonia. He was only 44 years old.

Elizabeth remarried to the widower Ira Bigelow (Sr.) in April 1815, in Livonia. Eight of his nine children from his first marriage survived. He had lived in Geneseo, nine miles to the west, in 1810, and reportedly had served in the War of 1812. Elizabeth and Ira had two more children.

Ira Bigelow (Sr.) reportedly died on August 29, 1823, in Livonia. He was 60 years old.

December 2022It is not yet known when and where Elizabeth (Mosher Ames) Bigelow died.
