- Coglio Overview (Parish Reconstruction and Historical Background)
A fire destroyed most Coglio parish records on January 24, 1745. Father Giovanni Battista Pozzi selectively reconstructed the baptism and marriage records in that year from other records and the testimony of parishioners. As such the majority of the information about Coglio before 1745 is from that reconstruction, except for a few records from the neighboring parish of Giumaglio. Death records are not available for Coglio until 1888 so deaths throughout are estimated.
Italian and Latin Names
Parish records, from which most of this information comes, is primarily written in Latin, while civil records are primarily written in Italian. Names that have only been observed in Latin but have either been converted to Italian or left in Latin are rendered in italics.

C1. Giovanni Antonio Lafranchi (II)2 
was born on April 15, 1685, in Coglio, Ticino, Switzerland. His godparents were Martino Lafranchi (perhaps Martino (II)) and Maria Delnotaro.[Bap 1685] Antonio married Giovanna Angelica Pozzi2 of the neighboring town of Giumaglio on June 6, 1701, at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Giumaglio.[Mar 1701] They had six children:

Witnesses to Antonio and Angelica's marriage were Giovanni Giacomo Guglielmetti of Coglio and Giacomo Mirenini of Giumaglio.[Mar 1701]
Antonio and Angelica chose the following godparents for their children:
